Fishing permits, boat rentals, bait, and tackle are all sold at the Concessions Stand in the Lakeshore Area. Anglers "Must!" purchase a fishing permit before casting.
CA state fishing licenses are not valid nor required at Dixon Lake. Rangers strictly enforce the required fishing permits and fresh water regulations.
Trout Derby November 23rd-24th. (No 2nd rods during Derby)
Pro Tip: Weekdays have easier access to boat rentals and less crowded fishing spots. Fish before 10AM and after 3PM.
No private watercraft of any kind allowed.
Trout: Upcoming trout season stocking 4,000lbs on Nov 20th. No fishing after stocking until Nov 23rd. Rangers will strictly enforce this no fishing period to allow the Trout to disperse throughout the lake. Whisker Bay and the buoy line are popular hot spots. Limit 5 per permit. No catch and release.
Catfish: Catfish are still being caught in the morning and evening. Due to the inherent cleanliness of Dixon Lake, the catfish coming from our waters are quite tasty. Use smelly bait for best results. Limit 5 per permit.
Largemouth Bass: Piers 1 and 4, as well as the nearby shorelines, continue to be the most successful spots for catching Bass. Limit 2 per permit. Must be 12 inches to keep.
Bluegill: Bluegill have been particularly active in the Jack Creek area. Park in Trout Cove or on the primitive side of the park and find a shoreline spot near the tules for best results. Limit 25 per permit.
