On July 20, 2024, at approximately 12:37 a.m., units from the Escondido Fire Department were dispatched to reports of a structure fire on Moody Drive in the City of Escondido. The first arriving Engine Company reported a detached residential garage fully engulfed with fire.
Aggressive firefighting prevented extension to the nearby home. Firefighters were able to contain the fire to the building of origin and a small living area above the garage in less than 30 minutes. Crews remained on scene for approximately 2 hours preforming salvage and overhaul.
20 Firefighters from the Escondido and San Marcos Fire Departments responded to the fire. There were no injuries to civilians or Firefighters during the incident and the homeowners were able to continue to occupy their home.
Escondido Fire Department Investigators are working to determine the cause of the fire.
