On January 7, 2025, at approximately 6:20 AM, units of the Escondido Fire Department were dispatched to a reported “outbuilding” on fire at the 100 block of Encanto Drive. Responding units could see flames and a large plume from a distance and requested an upgraded response.
The first arriving Engine Company reported a travel trailer, a vehicle, and a storage shed all well involved in fire. The fire spread to nearby shrubs and vegetation, threatening a nearby home. Due to the multiple threats encountered, a second alarm was requested.
Firefighters deployed hose lines to protect the uninvolved home while simultaneously extinguishing the burning structures. Full containment was achieved in approximately 30 minutes.
No civilians or Firefighters were injured during the incident. Unfortunately, two adults who had been living in the travel trailer were displaced. They will be staying with family members locally.
Automatic aid resources responded from San Marcos, Valley Center, San Pasqual Reservation, and Rancho Santa Fe Fire Departments. The Escondido Police Department provided road closures and traffic control. SDG&E responded to assist with securing electricity to the travel trailer.
