Extreme Heat Resiliency Action Plan

Fire Posted on March 04, 2025

The City of Escondido is working with the consultant Dudek to create the Escondido Extreme Heat Resilience Action Plan. The project will involve a heat risk vulnerability assessment that considers how the City's built environment contributes to effects from extreme heat to be experienced differently by various populations throughout the City. A key component of the project is community engagement, and as such, Dudek hosted one public webinar and one in-person public workshop and offered a survey with the Escondido community to identify local priorities. The project will result in an analysis of related City programs, a framework for proactively planning for more frequent and severe extreme heat events, and recommendations to help mitigate extreme heat through infrastructure, education, programs, and policy.

The Extreme Heat Resiliency Action plan is scheduled to be completed by early summer 2025.
