One of the four parts of the Escondido City Council Action Plan is neighborhood improvement, and one element of the plan is investing in maintaining good City streets.
This project takes the narrow and traffic burdened East Valley Parkway thoroughfare to Valley Center and widens the road to help improve the flow of traffic.
This Project removed a bottleneck over the Escondido Creek to provide two lanes of traffic in each direction, added bike lanes in accordance with the City’s Bicycle Master Plan, and installed a pedestrian signal at the bridge.
The Project constructed a new separated Class IV Bikeway (Cycle Track) and a Class I Bike Path through the core of the City of Escondido to fill a gap between the Escondido Creek Trail on North Broadway at Woodward Avenue, and the Inland Rail Trail on Quince Street just north of the Escondido Transit Center.
The Spruce Street Channel Improvement project is designed to improve drainage and water quality, protect private and public infrastructure from flooding, reduce mosquito habitat and improve safety and aesthetics for the community.
