Guidelines to Follow

Classes and groups of six (6) or more people must schedule all tours.

  • We cannot accommodate non-scheduled groups.
  • Tours are conducted from September through May, pending confirmation of dates by library staff.
  • Visits may begin as early as 9 am but should end no later than 11 am.
  • We recommend a 5:1 ratio of children to adults and only two (2) classes per tour.

Class Tours Available

  • Preschool, Kindergarten, and First grade: tours will briefly introduce what is found in the Children's Library, how the library works, a short tour, and a storytime.
  • Grades 2 to 3: The tour will consist of an introduction to the library, instructions on how to care for your books, information on your responsibilities as a library card holder, and storytime.
  • Grades 4 to 6: The tour will consist of an introduction to the library, a complete tour and overview of services provided, a story or an introduction to materials on a particular topic or subject, online resources, and how to use the online catalog to search for books.

Class Tour Borrowing Books

  • Students may borrow books on the day of the class tour only if they already have a library card. Library cards will not be processed during the tour.
