  • Zoning:
    • Do you know where your business type is allowed to be located?
    • Check to make sure you know where you can locate your type of business.
  • Appropriate Building:
    • Have you identified a suitable building for your business needs?
    • Ensure the building aligns with your operational requirements, some examples include power, water, fire sprinklers, grease traps etc. Many buildings in Escondido in the historic district downtown may require structural retrofits; work with a certified engineer to understand the needs of any building before signing a lease or conducting a purchase.
  • Adequate Parking:

  • Federal Tax ID Number (Internal Revenue Service):
    • Do you have a Federal Tax ID Number for your business?
    • Ensure compliance with the Internal Revenue Service.
  • Food Handler’s or other Health Permits (County Health Department):
    • Do you need Food Handler’s or other Health Permits?
    • Check requirements with the County Health Department.
  • City Business License (Required in each City location where you conduct business):
  • Industrial General Permit (Stormwater – State Water Board):
